MEET KT MITCHELL
KT Mitchell is an adult western novelist, working on her debut novel, The Cowgirl Chronicles. The novel is set in Palmer Lake, Colorado, between Colorado Springs and Denver. The book reveals four women who, through inheritance, an act of revenge, birth, or injury, find themselves on a ranch in Colorado, navigating a new way of living. An Irish immigrant, an escaped slave, a rancher and an Apache, come together by unusual circumstances, involving extreme cruelty, justice, friendship, and the drive to succeed on an untamed frontier.
KT is a reformed cowgirl, who after years of owning horses, got smart and went with the better equine, the mule, and has never regretted it. She has owned, ridden, shown, worked cows, hunted off of and packed game out of the Colorado Rocky Mountains with her mules, and is completely humbled by their intelligence, lack of drama or diva attitude, and their no-nonsense attitude toward life.
In KT’s words, “Mules are smarter, healthier, stronger, live longer, are much more agile than horses, and are more than up to any task given to them by their owner,” and she believes as the Native Americans believed in days gone by, that one mule is worth three horses.
KT’s writing is featured in Western Mule Magazine where she writes articles on the training and raising of Mules.
She spent a twenty year career in the gas and oil industry and currently works in sales where she enjoys helping people find products that make their lives easier.
KT lives in Colorado with her husband, Ken. She is an avid hunter, loves to golf, and bleeds orange and blue for the NFL Denver Broncos. Her early mornings are spent on the couch, her Basset Hound and German Shorthair Pointers beside her, supervising her writing.
